Realms 101
A Breakdown for Every Web3 Fashion Label

It is every designers ultimate dream to launch their own market, grow their own brand, become the next great label and do it all with full confidence in how strong the underlying infrastructure they have to support it is.

The end goal of every realm is to be fully decentralised through a DAO, completely self sustaining in web3 with a broad alliance of fellow markets, have hyper growth of an active and loyal community, and to attract intense market demand for products, goods and services they have poured themselves into creating.
Here we detail more of what it takes for any designer realm to be web3 native and successful.

No surprise to anyone working seriously in web3, it requires decentralization across 3 core areas:

  1. 1.
    Technical
  2. 2.
    Governance
  3. 3.
    Capital

These are progressive milestones every realm needs, and, every designer can undertake to accelerate their path to hypergrowth and web3 success.

  1. 1.
    Set up a discord community
    1. 1.
This one is pretty obvious for any designer that has been in the web3/NFT space for more than a day. It is a great way to be able to communicate with and start forming bonds with your community and ecosystem members. Every designer should set up their own discord server and start inviting members into it. This isn’t just an opportunity to cultivate your own garden however, realms thrive most when web3 network effects are fully embraced by way of active inter-realm communication and cross-promotion. This is why every realm has a dedicated channel in the DIGITALAX and GDN discord servers— so that you can directly update the broader web3 fashion community and expand inter concentric, adjacent and aligned groups of collectors, buyers and web3 fashion enthusiasts who you already know are super savvy thanks to their activity in other realms. The DIGITALAX and GDN discords are high volume pools of broader community activity for you to leverage.
  2. 2.
    Community Calls
    1. 1.
This is the best way to directly interface with your ecosystem. Information fidelity decays significantly when it’s just limited to text. These community calls for each realm should occur in both the DIGITALAX discord, especially to start with, the GDN discord, and also your own. Keeping an active cross mix means you are more likely to find the early champions you need to grow a broad based, interconnected and highly active community. The calls don’t have to be formal, they can shift between both realm updates and general insights/happenings.
  3. 3.
    Content Posting
    1. 1.
Content is currency and is vital for ensuring that you can not just keep your community up to date and strongly involved with your activity and building, but also, it is the direct way to communicate with the broader market. You should set up a medium, mirror and twitter account (other socials are good but the above three are the core for the NFT/crypto community) and be active on medium and mirror at least every two days posting anything from more information about the label’s mission, to current/upcoming projects, reactions to interesting and timely conversations taking place in the NFT sphere, upcoming/current collection releases, design production and process reports, fashion 101s for guiding and helping new designers so they have more reference content etc. etc. For twitter, this activity should be continuous daily and can both entail broadcasting realm information and consuming and responding to the market.
  4. 4.
    Governance Activity
    1. 1.
Getting decentralisation right is very hard, particularly because it is so poorly understood. Everything from people thinking a DAO means communism to a get rich quick investor social club. The best way to go about it is progressively. Progressive decentralisation allows you to build up layer by layer in a structurally sound way, and unlock the full power of social coordination tech at scale.
    2. 2.
To get this right we are introducing 3 new governance forum categories on https://gov.digitalax.xyz/, to be actively utilised by each designer realm.
    3. 3.
The first is “Designer Realms and Web3 Patrons”. This allows for any designer realm to propose new categories on the forum that will be championed by them to go live on the patron platform, allowing for anyone to become a patron of this new category i.e. it could be anything from a particular purveyor sector to something that a designer believes is necessary for growing out the web3 fashion economy.
    4. 4.
The second is under the “Wayfare DAO & Squad Inclusions” category, where each week designer realms can submit content to be voted in by the community for inclusion in the iW3Fi (indie Web3 Fashion index) and W3MI (Web3 Metaverse Index— more details to come soon) which will eventually mean that their realm/content will feed into a live token data index and bring the value of greater insight directly to that designer realm, collectors, buyers and other community members alike.
    5. 5.
The third vote is also under the “Designer Realms and Web3 Patrons” category and it is similar to the Designer Weekly Spotlight whereby each week every eligible realm gets included in the voting proposal and the top voted realm receives a speciality NFT that has $W3F and other web3 fashion ERC-20 staking power for them directly being able to start growing out their native crypto realm treasury.
    6. 6.
More details on eligibility and each of these governance activities will be shared in a separate comprehensive post.
  5. 5.
    Decentralised and Diversified Treasury
    1. 1.
Every realm will eventually have their own multi-sig on-chain crypto treasury that is owned, voted on and operated by their DAO. This will be grown out overtime, is an essential part of sustainability and general business growth, survival and defensibility and will be directly shepherded and stoked through governance as listed above.

    Realm Runway Events
    1. 1.
Realm Runway events are a new initiative for designer realms, you can kind of think of them like a mini web3 fashion week, focused on showcasing a particular realm and the designer collections within it and also cool community bundle giveaways and take home fashion goodies! Read more here.
  7. 7.
    Token Community Incentives
  8. 8.
    Seasonal Collection Displays
    1. 1.
This is related to Realm Runways and detailed out more here.
  9. 9.
    Sub Thread Posting
    1. 1.
This is a special content initiative under the GDN where every designer realm and GDN Purveyor too is forking the overarching Thread Weekly to begin launching their own version that will focus more specifically on their particular subject matter of passion, interest and expertise — whether that be high tech sportswear, phygital fashion fabrication, web3 fashion media and branding or something located in the far reaches of the metaverse that has not yet been surfaced.
    2. 2.
This is a direct source of capital and liquidity for going out there as a new designer in this web3 market and fostering relationships and connections with other core builders and voices in the space. You should use your sub-thread to interview people, run audio podcast recordings, get insights and different points of view on related sectors and topics. Mostly, grow your interactions and create compelling content that other designers and people engaged in web3 fashion want to read and dive deeper into.
  10. 10.
    Meta Source Vault Contributions
    1. 1.
Open source is critical for web3 fashion to overcome the copyright and IP cartels that attempt to own us all. The Meta Source vaults are the sharpest tools in the first line of defense. We are incentivising weekly contributions from every realm through governance, token staking allocation and realm treasury allocation. See more here.
